- 12 years of Bolivarian Revolution

When the extraordinary becomes routine

On 2 February was met 12 years of arrival in Venezuela of Hugo Chávez Frías Commander, and therefore, the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution to the political life of Our America and the world.
The aim of this paper is to consider one of the most important achievements of the Bolivarian agitated and contradictory process: having put on the table the possibility of reinvent the XXI Century Socialism , under the maxim of Simón Rodríguez expressed in the so called " or invent or we err " (and also under the suggestive " or tracing or copying "Jose Carlos Mariategui ).

emancipatory ideals This can be glimpsed in everyday multiple instances of participation. there emerges, for instance, the full potential of the Bolivarian missions in various areas such as health (Misión Barrio Adentro, with the participation of thousands of Cuban doctors), education (Mission Robinson for literacy Mission Ribas to high school and University Mission Sucre) and work (Mission Che Guevara, and the recently created Mission Agro Venezuela). We can also account for the formation of communal councils along and across the country as an eloquent demonstration of self-organization of the "brave people " Venezuela: a through of these instances, and through meetings in each one of the communities, realize the needs of the population finds its resolution, as has happened a few months ago with the floods and its victims.

Another highlight has to do with the idea of \u200b\u200bself -Political and economic- that permanently crosses the Bolivarian ideas in these twelve years. Venezuela was the first country in the region that has shown the teeth of U.S. imperialism at the start of the century, to the point of being able to defeat even a military coup designed (and funded) in Washington, as happened in April 2002 .

is that, ultimately, the U.S. what hurts is the single idea to think that the "danger" Bolivarian can expand to other countries : hence the coup in Honduras in June 2009, and growing belligerence with Bolivia and Ecuador, the three allies, along with Venezuela and Cuba, the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA) -.

That is, we believe, one of the main legacies that we leave Venezuela today: its history openly emancipatory , questioning the status quo puntofijista ; its continuing ability to reinvent; and his constant search of gestation and continuing popular power from the grassroots, despite the contradictions that sometimes, as in any process of change radical - can land on the beautiful Caribbean nation.

A salute that Venezuela today, the anniversary of his (and ours, because they say) Revolution.
